Kobe doesn't give a [bleep] about LeBron..

LeBron's free agency drama is taking the spotlight off Kobe's title run. (Andrew D. Berstein/NBAE via Getty Images)

Warning: Don’t ask The Black Mamba about The King.

While talking to the New York Post’s Marc Berman on Friday, Bryant said his sole focus is winning another NBA championship — not where The King plays next season.

“You’re asking me if LeBron is going to New York?” Bryant told The Post. “I’m trying to tell you in a polite way, I don’t give a [bleep].

“As a fan, it’s a big deal,” he added. “You’re talking about LeBron and Dwyane Wade, it’s two huge names changing cities. It alters things drastically in the NBA. But I really don’t care about it.”

Former Hornets coach and current ESPN broadcaster, Byron Scott, who was standing nearby when Bryant uttered these words at the Staples Center, started cracking up.

“Why are people talking about LeBron anyway?” Scott said. “Let me tell you something. From me just knowing Kobe, he doesn’t give a [bleep] what everyone is talking about anyway.”

No, you don’t say?!

“I couldn’t have said it better,” Bryant piped in.

While Kobe is approaching his fifth NBA championship — one less than Michael Jordan — LeBron is being wooed by the president and Jordan’s former team.

The King’s hour-long interview with CNN’s Larry King aired on Friday night, and during ABC’s telecast of Game 1 of the Finals, the network promoted a “Nightline” interview with James to be shown after the game — even though the segment had already aired in May.

During his formal interview session yesterday, Bryant had this to say about The Chosen One’s cloud over the Finals: “I don’t care about attention. It doesn’t mean anything to me.”

Wizards close to trading Butler to Mavericks

The Washington Wizards and Dallas Mavericks are close to a major trade that would send forward Caron Butler, center Brendan Haywood and guard DeShawn Stevenson to Dallas for forwards Josh Howard and Drew Gooden and guard Quintin Ross, according to a league source.

ESPN.com first reported that the deal was close to being finalized.

The trade would dramatically improve the Mavericks, who have struggled going into the All-Star break.

Dallas has been looking to upgrade both at small forward, where Howard has been slow to recover from injuries the past two seasons, and at center, where the Mavs gave Orlando's Marcin Gortat an offer sheet last summer that the Magic matched.

Haywood is having a career year for the Wizards, with career highs in scoring average. Butler has struggled with new coach Flip Saunders' offense, but is still a strong scorer who'd fit in in Dallas.

The trade would provide significant luxury tax relief for the Wizards, who are looking to lower their tax burden in the wake of the season-long suspensions of Gilbert Arenas and Javaris Crittenton.

Howard would potentially provide relief for Washington next season because the final year of his contract is a team option.

Lil Wayne Sentencing Delayed Due To Dental Surgery [Rapper will undergo surgery before serving his prison term; sentencing pushed back to March 2ND

NEW YORK - Rap star Lil Wayne has gotten a temporary reprieve from jail — for dental surgery.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper’s sentencing in a New York City gun case was postponed Tuesday, because he needs to finish a string of recent surgeries before he goes to jail.

Lil Wayne, one of music’s biggest sellers and rap’s hottest stars, is poised to spend as much as a year in jail under a plea deal, though good behavior could shave that to as little as eight months.

Sentencing now is scheduled for March 2. Manhattan state Supreme Court Justice Charles Solomon said it wouldn’t be put off any further.

The diminutive rapper, his hair in dreadlocks, said nothing at a brief court session Tuesday afternoon. He left in a black SUV, flanked by fellow rapper Birdman and others.

Defense lawyer Stacey Richman said Lil Wayne was headed home to Miami for dental work Friday. She declined to specify his malady.

“It is a medical situation that, like (it would for) any of us, has to be addressed,” she said outside court. She said the rapper had planned to take care of it before Tuesday, but his dentist had been out of the country doing charitable work.

Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Joan Illuzzi-Orbon didn’t fight the rapper’s request to push back his sentencing, saying she had spoken to the dentist.

Lil Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty in October to a charge of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, admitting he illegally had a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus in July 2007. Police found the weapon when they stopped the bus after a Manhattan concert.

Last week, Lil Wayne reinforced his place in rap’s pantheon with a commanding performance at the Grammy Awards ceremony. His latest album, “Rebirth,” was released Feb. 2.

Meanwhile, he is preparing himself for jail, his lawyer said.

“He’s a strong man,” she said.

“This is Lil Wayne going to jail. Nobody can tell me what that’s like,” the rapper told Rolling Stone magazine for its latest issue. “I just say I’m looking forward to it.”

His plea deal calls for him to serve his sentence not in state prison but in the city jail system, where rapper Foxy Brown spent about eight months in 2007 and 2008 for a probation violation involving a fight she had with manicurists in a nail salon.

Rapper Remy Ma spent several months in a city jail in 2008 while awaiting sentencing for shooting a woman outside a nightclub. She’s now serving an eight-year sentence in state prison.

City Department of Correction spokesman Stephen Morello wouldn’t discuss any arrangements being made to house Lil Wayne among the roughly 13,500 inmates in the massive Rikers Island complex and other jails. Most inmates are awaiting trial.

Some inmates, including Foxy Brown, are separated from the general population because of their celebrity or other reasons, but “there’s no special-inmates wing,” Morello said.

Lil Wayne’s attorney didn’t return telephone calls seeking comment Monday.

Lil Wayne, 27, pleaded guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon, admitting he illegally had a loaded .40-caliber semiautomatic gun on his tour bus in July 2007. Police found the weapon when they stopped the bus after a Manhattan concert.

A rapper since he was a teenager, Lil Wayne, born Dwayne Carter, became known for his voluminous output and collaborations with other artists.

His career has hit a peak in the last two years. His “Tha Carter III” led 2008 album sales with 2.8 million copies sold and featured such hits as the No. 1 smash “Lollipop.” His Grammys include 2008’s best rap solo performance award, for “A Milli.”

"You’re great." "No, YOU’RE great." "No, you’re GREAT." "NO, you're great." "NO, YOU’RE GREAT."

Kobe Bryant is the all-time leading scorer for the Lakers, having eclipsed Jerry West’s 25,192 points with 44 during the Lakers' loss to the Grizzlies Monday night. With the Lakers next win, Phil Jackson will pass Pat Riley for the most regular season wins in franchise history with his 534th victory. Are we looking at L.A.’s best player and coach tandem ever? The argument can be made, that's for sure. Even more incredibly, upon further investigation, it appears that every guy in this ’09-’10 squad has a shot at setting a Lakers record. Here’s the breakdown of titles the current line-up is trying for:

Jay Electronica (CRAZY LYRICS)

Jay Electronica has yet to release a full-length album but has released two official singles to date, "Exhibit A" and "Exhibit C". His music so far has been made available through the internet, either through being leaked to what URB magazine describes as "obscure web forums", or through an appearing and disappearing myspace page (currently two seem to be in existence, at /jayelect and at /jayelectronica). Badu has questioned whether he ever will release, in her words, "actual albums".

Originally from the Magnolia Projects in New Orleans, Louisiana, he has lived in Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Denver, and Detroit, where he recorded his Style Wars-era music with several J Dilla beats, meeting the producer subsequently to ask for permission to use the recordings as a demo. Detroit is where Electronica met producer/engineer Mike "Chav" Chavarria, who introduced him to both J Dilla and Mr. Porter, and who is now a regular collaborator.

Jay Electronica first gained significant attention through Act 1: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge), made available on a myspace page in 2007. It is 15 continuous minutes of music, without drums, built from Jon Brion's soundtrack to the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. There are five segments or movements, marked by changes in music and mood, raps by Electronica, and occasional snippets of sampled dialogue (children arguing in Kurdish, Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka). The first segment is spoken word by Just Blaze and Erykah Badu describing the artist over piano music.

The nature of the piece of music, along with the nature of its appearance, led to a slow build-up of interest in Electronica as an enigmatic figure. Style Wars gained wider circulation, and other tracks, such as the dream-inspired "Dimethyltryptamine", appeared. In January 2008, Giles Peterson's 90-minute Giles Peterson Worldwide was devoted to the rapper. Hiphopdx.com in 2008 called him "arguably...the most talked about new emcee last year ... at times...more like a myth or urban legend than an actual rapper", and URB ran a cover story on the artist under the banner "Jay Electronica: A Spotless Mind :: An MC’s mystery revealed", which referred to his wanderings as his being "like some sort of hip-hop Jack Kerouac".

Jeff Weiss' piece for the L.A. Weekly, "Jay Electronica: Much Better Than His Name Would Suggest", acknowledged that the rapper could be fairly described as "one of the most buzzed about rappers of 2008", but attempted to temper the hype somewhat, describing Act 1... as "ambitious, wildly original, if not slightly pretentious", while endorsing only to an extent the comparisons URB had made (referencing an "abstract rhyming style") to rappers like Nas and Pharoahe Monch.

Electronica met Nas during the recording of Nas' Untitled, through Badu's friendship with Nas' wife, Kelis. He gave Nas a CD of his recordings, causing Nas to invite him to produce for the album. Jay Electronica provides the music for the album's opening track, "Queens Get the Money". Nas describes him as having provided "the Jay Electronica sound". He toured North America with Nas, and was part of the Rock The Bells International Festival Series in 2008.

According to URB, Act II: Patents of Nobility will feature Nas, and will be the second of a putative trilogy. URB also reported that digital EPs with both Guilty Simpson and producer 9th Wonder were planned. His most recent music as of November 2008 is the Just Blaze-produced track "Exhibit A (Transformations)".

According to a Filter TV interview, Jay Electronica has partnered with Decon to release his debut project. It is being described as a multi-media release and footage from the project which was partially shot in Nepal and Dubai has begun to surface online. The first clip to leak is titled "Dear Moleskin" and can be found on youtube, the track was produced by Just Blaze and the clip was directed by Jason Goldwatch from Decon. In June of 2009, Decon and Jay's "The Dogon Society" released "Exhibit A" digitally. "Exhibit C" was released on iTunes December 16, 2009 and quickly shot to the top 10 of the itunes Hip-Hop charts. The following week it was chosen by Hot 97's Dj Enuff as the Heavy Hitter pick of the week.

On January 11, 2010, DJ Dub and Furious Styles released a mixtape entitled Victory which featured 27 tracks of Jay Electronica. While it is not known whether this particular work was sanctioned by the artist. GatMan, DGNeo, dope4goldrope, among others from Joe Budden's internet forum, created what is most likely Jay's largest compilation, entitled "The Free At Last Kit",which contains every released Jay Electronica track. This compilation also includes lyrics.

He and Erykah Badu welcomed their first child together, a girl named Mars Merkaba, on February 1, 2009
