Jay Electronica (CRAZY LYRICS)

Jay Electronica has yet to release a full-length album but has released two official singles to date, "Exhibit A" and "Exhibit C". His music so far has been made available through the internet, either through being leaked to what URB magazine describes as "obscure web forums", or through an appearing and disappearing myspace page (currently two seem to be in existence, at /jayelect and at /jayelectronica). Badu has questioned whether he ever will release, in her words, "actual albums".

Originally from the Magnolia Projects in New Orleans, Louisiana, he has lived in Atlanta, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Denver, and Detroit, where he recorded his Style Wars-era music with several J Dilla beats, meeting the producer subsequently to ask for permission to use the recordings as a demo. Detroit is where Electronica met producer/engineer Mike "Chav" Chavarria, who introduced him to both J Dilla and Mr. Porter, and who is now a regular collaborator.

Jay Electronica first gained significant attention through Act 1: Eternal Sunshine (The Pledge), made available on a myspace page in 2007. It is 15 continuous minutes of music, without drums, built from Jon Brion's soundtrack to the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. There are five segments or movements, marked by changes in music and mood, raps by Electronica, and occasional snippets of sampled dialogue (children arguing in Kurdish, Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka). The first segment is spoken word by Just Blaze and Erykah Badu describing the artist over piano music.

The nature of the piece of music, along with the nature of its appearance, led to a slow build-up of interest in Electronica as an enigmatic figure. Style Wars gained wider circulation, and other tracks, such as the dream-inspired "Dimethyltryptamine", appeared. In January 2008, Giles Peterson's 90-minute Giles Peterson Worldwide was devoted to the rapper. Hiphopdx.com in 2008 called him "arguably...the most talked about new emcee last year ... at times...more like a myth or urban legend than an actual rapper", and URB ran a cover story on the artist under the banner "Jay Electronica: A Spotless Mind :: An MC’s mystery revealed", which referred to his wanderings as his being "like some sort of hip-hop Jack Kerouac".

Jeff Weiss' piece for the L.A. Weekly, "Jay Electronica: Much Better Than His Name Would Suggest", acknowledged that the rapper could be fairly described as "one of the most buzzed about rappers of 2008", but attempted to temper the hype somewhat, describing Act 1... as "ambitious, wildly original, if not slightly pretentious", while endorsing only to an extent the comparisons URB had made (referencing an "abstract rhyming style") to rappers like Nas and Pharoahe Monch.

Electronica met Nas during the recording of Nas' Untitled, through Badu's friendship with Nas' wife, Kelis. He gave Nas a CD of his recordings, causing Nas to invite him to produce for the album. Jay Electronica provides the music for the album's opening track, "Queens Get the Money". Nas describes him as having provided "the Jay Electronica sound". He toured North America with Nas, and was part of the Rock The Bells International Festival Series in 2008.

According to URB, Act II: Patents of Nobility will feature Nas, and will be the second of a putative trilogy. URB also reported that digital EPs with both Guilty Simpson and producer 9th Wonder were planned. His most recent music as of November 2008 is the Just Blaze-produced track "Exhibit A (Transformations)".

According to a Filter TV interview, Jay Electronica has partnered with Decon to release his debut project. It is being described as a multi-media release and footage from the project which was partially shot in Nepal and Dubai has begun to surface online. The first clip to leak is titled "Dear Moleskin" and can be found on youtube, the track was produced by Just Blaze and the clip was directed by Jason Goldwatch from Decon. In June of 2009, Decon and Jay's "The Dogon Society" released "Exhibit A" digitally. "Exhibit C" was released on iTunes December 16, 2009 and quickly shot to the top 10 of the itunes Hip-Hop charts. The following week it was chosen by Hot 97's Dj Enuff as the Heavy Hitter pick of the week.

On January 11, 2010, DJ Dub and Furious Styles released a mixtape entitled Victory which featured 27 tracks of Jay Electronica. While it is not known whether this particular work was sanctioned by the artist. GatMan, DGNeo, dope4goldrope, among others from Joe Budden's internet forum, created what is most likely Jay's largest compilation, entitled "The Free At Last Kit",which contains every released Jay Electronica track. This compilation also includes lyrics.

He and Erykah Badu welcomed their first child together, a girl named Mars Merkaba, on February 1, 2009

2010 Grammy Awards (Wayne, Eminem, Drake, & Travis Barker)

This video is from the 2010 Grammy Awards of Lil Wayne, Travis Barker, Eminem, & "Drizzy" Drake!
The presence of these talented individuals on one stage is bound 2 be worth watching! Yes, we all
know Lil Wayne is about to serve a bid in federal prison, but his talent & contributions to HipHop
extend without question! Travis Barker.. He is definitely someone who people can under estimate his
talent! I personally believe NO ONE can stand on the plateau as Travis Barker. He has overcome a
friends' loss, and personal injuries stemming from a plane crash somewhat over a year ago, and is
back 2 his regular self! Eminem.. he needs NO introduction! His latest tabloid was over this
Christmas holiday where a unpleasant rumor spread he was killed in a terrible car accident, which was
obviously false! But, lets not forget the controversy between him, Mariah Carey, & her husband Nick
Cannon! (This was comical if u ask me).. However, Mariah claims Eminem was stalking her then
proceeded 2 make a mockery of the incident into a music video! In retaliation, Eminem explained
how he smashed (sex'd) her & bust on her stomach! (she said she thinks semen is gross).. Then
Eminem proceeds to express how she (Mariah) almost let Eminem's homie hit too! Nick Cannon
defending his wife, makes a diss song about Eminem.. from there, you know Eminem ended the
fued by saying Nick got a tattoo identical to Eminem showing how much he envied the HipHop star
and thanked Eminem for letting him come to his house when he was a fan.. Last but certainly not
least, "Drizzy" Drake! The very lyrical new comer to the game under the wings of Young Money Ent.
& CEO, Lil Wayne.. Drake won his 1st Grammy award tonight and performed on one of an
entertainers dream stage! This kid has yet 2 release an album, need I say more?!

The NEW Apple iPad

Here it is folks, the Apple iPad. The screen is gorgeous, tilting is responsive, and the thing is super thin. Still, if you've used the iPhone before -- and you can see the two devices side-by-side here -- there's not a lot of surprises here so far. Here are some initial thoughts on the iPad:
  • It's not light. It feels pretty weighty in your hand.
  • The screen is stunning, and it's 1024 x 768. Feels just like a huge iPhone in your hands.
  • The speed of the CPU is something to be marveled at. It is blazingly fast from what we can tell. Webpages loaded up super fast, and scrolling was without a hiccup. Moving into and out of apps was a breeze. Everything flew.
  • There's no multitasking at all. It's a real disappointment. All this power and very little you can do with it at once. No multitasking means no streaming Pandora when you're working in Pages... you can figure it out. It's a real setback for this device.
  • The ebook implementation is about as close as you can get to reading without a stack of bound paper in your hand. The visual stuff really helps flesh out the experience. It may be just for show, but it counts here.
  • No camera. None, nada. Zip. No video conferencing here folks. Hell, it doesn't have an SMS app!
  • It's running iPhone OS 3.2.
  • The keyboard is good, not great. Not quite as responsive as it looked in the demos.
  • No Flash confirmed. So Hulu is out for you, folks!
Update: We've got video, head after the break to check it out!

Floyd Mayweather vs. Shane Mosley?

Along the cancellation of the welterweight unification clash between Shane Mosley and Andre Berto, Berto issued a personal press release stating that due to the catastrophic earthquake that struck Haiti killing several of his family members. His sister and niece survived but are homeless and Berto finally decided he couldn’t concentrate on the fight with everything that is going on in Haiti. He is physically and emotionally unable to prepare for his Jan. 30 bout with Mosley and as a result, will withdraw from the bout.

Given the close proximity to the date of the event and the difficulty in finding a suitable replacement for Berto, the event will be cancelled entirely. All tickets previously purchased for the Mosley-Berto fight can be refunded at the original point of sale.

Mosley commented from his training camp in Big Bear, Calif. and said, “I’m disappointed that the fight has been called off, but I understand that Andre is going through a very difficult time. My heart goes out to him, his family and the people of Haiti during the aftermath of this terrible tragedy. I’m sorry for the losses that Andre and all of the Haitian people are suffering. I have everyone in my prayers.”

Golden Boy is hoping to match Mosley with Floyd Mayweather Jr. It’s unlikely that the matchup would land on March 13, the date Floyd was considering facing a lesser opponent. One very possible date for Mosley-Mayweather is May 1 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, a date Golden Boy has already reserved.

In a recent interview between Kevin Lole from Yahoo sports and CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, Richard Schaefer, Schaefer was quoted saying“Shane Mosley obviously always wants to be in big fights. What we are going to try to see is if we can pursue a fight with Floyd Mayweather. I had some talks [with Mayweather’s representatives] and we’ll see how that goes. What I’m going to be doing in the next 24 hours is to work nonstop to see if we can put that fight together.”

“In boxing, you have three truly super mega fights [that can be made] and this is one of them. This is one of those fights that boxing fans and sports fans, and the general public, have been looking forward to for many years. If we can pull that off and have Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather fight each other, I would been extremely happy and extremely pleased for all the fans out there.”

“I’m going to sit down with our marketing people and our sponsors, as well, and determine what the right time frame would be to properly promote and activate that fight,” Schaefer said. “On the surface, with March 13 just around the corner, I don’t think that would be the right thing to do. If you’re going with a super mega fight like that to go against Pacquiao-Clottey, I think that would be totally wrong and I would not want to do that.”

I can’t blame Berto for pulling out he did the right thing, family clearly must come first and for that I respect him a lot more.

What’s your opinion about Berto and the possible fight between Mosley-Mayweather?

BACK IN THE DAY WHEN I HAD THE HANG TIME

Freshman year of college out in Oklahoma playing ball on scholarship! Back in the day 2002-2003 when I had the young braids, a little hang time back there but not much! In this photo my hair wasn't in straight back's, just a lot of small plats.. I thought those of you who know me would enjoy seeing this old school ID.. Those two years spent out there in Oklahoma, I met some very cool people I still associate with til this very day! I experienced a lot of high's and low's in those 2 long years, but I wouldn't change it, I don't regret anything! I feel blessed that I went through those obstacles! For those wondering why I cut my hair.. I was told by my basketball coach that, if I wanted 2 continue to stay on scholarship and play basketball, I had to cut my hair.. He told me that the "CornRows" look thuggish and intimidated some of the people in the community! Like I said, I went through a lot out there and that situation is why I cut my hair! I did enjoy having long hair tho! This post is just something I wanted to share with you all, enjoy!

According to Fif, Jay has mastered the art of subliminal dissing.

"It's the competitive nature of the art form," Fif explained about his relationship with Jay. "It's still there, he still competes too. He just does it so subliminal that people don't read it. To me, it's a softer way to do it. A safer way to do it because no one directly feels offended by it...Why not just say it? I don't feel the [disses]. You gotta at least let the [diss be noticeable.] A guy that's that subtle, how do you really take offense to those activities? You know, I get really disrespectful, I don't mind. And then it's like, we can go to the other space and it can really go down." (Power 105.1)

In past interviews, 50 has suggested Jay uses his past roster of artists like Beanie Sigel and Tru Life to protect him during beefs.

"Jay is a really smart guy," 50 explained in an interview with reporter Gina Torres. "He'll analyze other people and other things that they're doing and not actually look at what's happening to him and his transitions. Right now, he's in this really safe space. He created this safe aura -- it wouldn't be like that if he handled his issues himself. He's a piece of work, he always puts somebody in front of him. When Jada came for him, he put Beanie in front of him and Beanie went back and forth with Jadakiss. When Camcame for him, he put Tru Life in front of him and they went back and forth and he just didn't compete." (All Hip Hop)

50 also discussed how Jay's rap image constantly changes last year.

"You can't be gangster Jay from Marcy and be the good guyJay-Z on 'Oprah,'" Fif explained in an interview. "You just can't. They don't let you in. That's Mr. Knowles, he just got that pass. There ain't any tickets to an inauguration ball with n*ggas. If you're from the hood, you have that element or that aura around you, there's no tickets for you. It's 'safe' people there. This is why those things are happening. This is why he has to convince the person that he's talking to he's not afraid of anyone." (Complex)

While speaking with radio personality Trevor Nelson last September, Hov said no one should be intimidated by 50.

"I think he would have done that if that was 50 Cent, no one's scared of 50 Cent," Jay said referring to Kanye West's Taylor Swift incident. "I want everybody to be clear, no one's scared of 50 Cent. So I just think that's what he believed. I think it was rude, I thought it was in appropriate. And I told him this much, but I don't think he was wrong."

CASSIE ADDRESSES BEING PREGNANT W/ DIDDY'S CHILD, "COME ON PEOPLE!"

R&B singer Cassie has addressed recent reports that she is pregnant with the child of her Bad Boy Records label boss, Diddy.

Twitter page, Cassie said the reports are completely false.

"Come on people!," she wrote on Twitter. "I still have weight on from the holiday & on top of that, I'm on my period. TMI I know.... lolol!! Not preggers kiddies!! :)" (Cassie's Twitter)

Gossip began to circulate online late last week regarding her alleged pregnancy.

MediaTakeOut.com just got some EXPLOSIVE news. Cassie is PREGNANT . . . and rap mogul Diddy is the DADDY!!! Word from a reliable source (who is a celebrity) is that Cassie and Diddy have been trying to keep things under wraps. But now, as the below photos show taken earlier this week at M2 nightclub in NYC, it's starting to show. MediaTakeOut.com's insider claims that Cassie's about 2 months preggers. Congrats to Cassie, you got another 8 or so months until RETIREMENT!!! (Daily Fill)

Aside from romance, Cassie has reportedly followed Diddy to Interscope Records.

"He has a new situation at Interscope," Red Cafe recently said about Diddy. "For Dirty Money and Red Cafe and Cassie. The names that I just said, I don't know about anybody else. I know about those three names. I think Atlantic made money with [Day26] and they liked them so they kept them. That has nothing to do with me. Oh, it's about to go down. Major. It's going down big...Shout-to Puffy." (Jenny Boom Boom TV)

Cassie was recently taunted by R&B singer Kelis for using her trends.

"Well I was definitely the first to do it," Kelis explained in an interview. "The only other person I would give credit before me isPepa. Other than that, I expect them to copy me. What else are they supposed to do? They're young. God bless them. Yeah. At the end of the day, everyone is just waiting for someone to do something new and if it's generally me, then I'll take that responsibility (laughs)." (Honey Mag)

Dear SpaceJams:

Jordan Retro 11's - My favorite Jordan EVER!

In high school, these (pictured - Space Jams) were my "away game" basketball sneakers & the original black/white 11's were the "home game" sneakers! This particular shoe, the "Space Jams," make me feel some type of way! They released on December 23, 2009 and I have yet 2 put them on my feet.. Literally, I haven't even tried them on! I smell them every chance I get, I wish i could get a car freshener of the "New Sneaker Scent" b/c they smell that good! lol I think the thing that scares me the most about when I will wear them, is the fact that I don't want the "ICY" bottoms to turn yellow! Over time, I'm sure it will happen, but I am going to try my best to prevent this from happening! I've read to DEFINITELY keep from wearing when it may rain! Lately, it has been raining none stop here in Atlanta, but I know I will eventually wear then in the Spring time! I know of three (3) occasions I will wear them: Maybe my birthday around the city that DAY, My cousin Louie Kix wedding (Whenever that maybe, NO TIME SOON), & My wedding (Probably never)..lol so maybe just my b'day is the ONLY legit date; March 16th! On another note, I want 2 have sex with a chick & these Space Jams is all she needs to have on! lol #LetsBeHonest #ItsATurnOn

Its like Guitar Hero, but with a Pole!

Game of the Week: Pole Dance Hero

Wrap your fingers round the neck of one of Guitar Hero's plastic axes, and a spell is cast. The clunky peripheral becomes a weighty Fender in your hands, and your living room is twisted into a huge stadium rock venue. Most of us have been tricked by the game's magic, our foot on a amp stack and our long hair tumbling around us as we thrash our heads, only to realise we've just left a footprint on an occasional table and imagined the whole thing.

Guitar Hero's success certainly comes from the way it lets gamers struggle free from the sluggish bonds of the sofa and pose and strut like a bold rock legend. But playing Adult Swim's careful parody, Pole Dance Hero, it starts to become clear that all along the gaudy toy guitars might have been getting too much credit.

A relatively simple, cheek-prodding Flash release developed by This is Pop, Pole Dance Hero strips the series it apes of most of its component parts. Gone are the peripherals, the pomp, and the pretense. All that remains is the familiar 'track'; and endless rolling road that tumbles towards the front of the screen. Down this road roll three lines of symbols. As the symbols (in this case punters' grubby tips) reach a line, you must press a corresponding key in time.

Maintain a sequence of timely button pushes and your 'dancer' works up an increasingly impressive speed and she swivels round her pole like a fleshy, underdressed gyroscope. Fail and she falls to the floor, landing in an ungainly heap.

That really is all there is to the gameplay, aside from a few different music tracks, online leaderboards, a difficulty setting and lashings of Adult Swim's trademark puerile wit. And that is all you need. Pole Dance Hero is silly, brilliant and addictive, without ever needing you to invest in an expensive novelty controller. It does lack any sensation of performing, and it's certainly not the party game the genuine hero series is, but as a virtual snack it certainly serves its intended purpose with flair.

What really makes us tick? It's not prancing about in suburbia like a pantomime rocker in the cowardly privacy granted by our living room curtains. It's pressing a handful of buttons in time to some arbitrary symbols.

Adult Swim's latest knows this, and dilutes the whole performance based gaming craze into a delicately gaudy Flash title you can enjoy to the fullest in a five minute break. You've probably made a futile New Years Resolution about giving up smoking, so you can use all those saved moments to brush up (and down and around) on your pole dancing skills.

...

Play Pole Dance Hero here.
